It's good. I upped the ABV and it was a bit hot. I've let it sit for 2-3 weeks (after bottling) and it's much better. Flavor is quite good! Now that it's stopped raining (hopefully for awhile) in Mass, perhaps I can sit outside and enjoy!!!

Hahahahaha! Waldo, I'd rather share a bottle with you! If I can find my husband's camera, etc...I'll post photos!

So, finally bottled this over the weekend. Initially, it seemed a bit *hot* from upping the alcohol. Now, once enjoying some chilled, it seems to have calmed down...it may have been the voignier as I've never had that before. Gave bottles to retiring teachers and a principal at kids' schools...

Thanks for sharing! Do you do that with primary to secondary, too or just secondary to bucket or bottling?

Please excuse my ignorance but I just need to clarify the process... So 2 weeks or so prior to bottling I would use a method to collect lees/sediment all to one side by tilting the carboy (using 2x4's, etc.). On the day of bottling, I would tilt the carboy the other direction as it takes some...

Thanks, Waldo! Wasthe wine flavor itself distinguishable? I like both Reislings and Gewurtztraminers! Do you have a preference of OB kits over IM kits? Thanks for your input!

Hmmm. I keep reading about the Green Apple Riesling...Have you tried the Green Apple Gewurtztraminer? The OB Cran-Apple Chard is really good, too! I still have some Kiwi-Pear Sauv Blanc but friends really liked the Kiwi Melon Pinot Grigio... I'm also drawn to the Seville Orange Sangria...ain't...

I'm drooling already! This kit sounded delicious right when I heard about it! I've never had Voignier wine...can you taste it in this kit? I have a feeling this may be one that I'll want to keep on hand. I haven't learned to appreciate red wine yet, so I've only tried the whites. Which white...

I don't care for bees much myself so you're a hero in my book!! What a bummer! Some things you just can't plan for! Glad to hear that it tastes great! I recall that you upped ABV to 1.080, too. Any alcohol taste? How much of the f-pack did you end up using?

FINALLY started this today! UppedS.G. to 1.080 and we're off!! Wade: Is yours getting close to bottling time?

TinaLouise: Did youget the OCP or CRP? They are very nice at Grapestompers! Bellissima bottles are lovely! My LBHS sells them for $38.95 for a case of 12! YIKES! I can get a case there of 24 Blue Altus Ice Wine bottles (375ml) for $38.00 or a case of 24 green regular 375ml bottles for...

uavwmn: Good combination! vcasey: Thanks for the suggestion but we'll go with the one I received today and then we'll see in the fall when it's offered again. I'm going with more of a variety of beverages with Hard Iced Tea, Hard Limeade and Apfelwein. I have a Banana Pineapple Voignier, Raisin...

Okay, that does it! I'm making mine this week!!! From what I've been reading about Voignier, it's usually a higher alcohol wine. So, upping the ABV seems to be a good thing, as you've done, Wade.

Uavwmn: It tasted good when I bottled it. I left a sample for my husband to try and he's been sampling ever since! I pitched mine in mid-December and bottled about 5 weeks later. You could taste it now, if you'd like but you may want to wait until say, June 22. (Three months from when it was...

uavwmn: 10 points for you! If it's this good "young" I can only imagine what it'll taste like when all the flavors "mature". We have a few bottles left and as it's been 4 months since it was bottled, so we should taste a difference, too. Don't know if I can make the 6 month mark, never mind a...

I ordered an OCP kit today through Grapestompers and I got the last one! Thanks for the heads up, vcasey! Oh, vacsey: You were smart to order anotherone right away! I'll keep thinking about whether I'll fortify it or not...it does taste good and gives a nice, mellow feeling... So, uavwmn - you...

No only have I tasted it but it's almost gone! My husband LOVES it! I didn't fortify with brandy and only did it as a 4 week kit - no bulk aging. This go around, I may do that and bulk age it so hubby has to wait and then appreciate how good it can REALLY be! But then again, who knows! I'm...

Yes, I think I'll get 2 kits next year, too! I just put through an order via Grapestompers...we'll see if they still have the OCP in stock. If so, yipeeee!

Does anyone recall when these kits become available again? October?? I'm down to just a few bottles. I think next go around I'll get a 24 pack of the 1/2 bottles...Giving a 750ml of something this good makes me think that recipients should...ummmmmmm....hmmmmmm...name a child, bridge or town...
