    Strawberries through a Juicer

I have about 50 lbs or more of strawberries and was wondering if it would be bad to usea mechanical juicer on them. Also, I was wondering if anyone had a good recipe for a rich strawberry wine.

    Beer S.G. too high?

I used the yeast that came with the kit.It was a lager but the malt was bavarian wheat. The temperature has been 70F.

    Beer S.G. too high?

I made a John Bull kit and used 2 lbs of dried malt extract in place of sugar as the instructions indicate that you can. The starting S.G. was 1.050 and the instructions do not give you a target starting S.G. It should only take about 1 week. It fermented pretty aggressively for about 4...

    Concord grape wine fast ferment

Great! I will rack today! Has anyone used the pulp from a batch of concord wine to make a second batch and adding frozen concentrate to the must?

    Concord grape wine fast ferment

I have a 5 gallon batch of Concord grape wine that has been 6 days in the primary. It is from my own grapes and the crushed grapes are in a mesh bag in the primary with the juice. The starting S.G. was 1.095. It fermented ferouciously for about 3 days. Today I checked the S.G. and it is at...

    Sediment on side of carboy

Mezza Luna is a really easy, very enjoyable red wine. I think it is impressive that you could drink it after 1 month at it would be good. 3 months is fine. You should try a bottle and see what you think. If you think it needs more age then let 'er go. I haven't aged any Mezza Luna for...

    Sediment on side of carboy

I usually rack it to a bucket right before bottling so it is easier to fill the bottles. I wasn't sure if maybe I should rack it to a another secondary now and let it settle out for a few weeksin there. I guess if I did that I would need to add about a bottle to it to top it up. I am...

    WINE AGING SUPPORT GROUP

I guess I should clarrify "consume". I would hope one was not consuming 30 bottles every 28 days. I givequite a bit of wine away... and then there are the "get togethers" where more than normal amounts of wine are drank. I guess I shouldn't assumeit is the same for others. I used to drink more...

    Sediment on side of carboy

Appleman! I will try that. Do you think that it would help to rack it again?

    WINE AGING SUPPORT GROUP

There are many ways to try and keep yourself from cracking in to that wine at 6 months that should have been left for a year or more. The first, of course, is self restraint. The second, as I think I have read, is to make enough wine that you can't get to it before it is due. If you only...

    Sediment on side of carboy

This is maybe the 3rd or 4th batch of Mezza Luna Red that I have made and I love the wine and I have had many compliments on it. I always seem to getsediment in my bottles when I make Mezzza Luna Red than when I make any white wine, I can get my white wines from kits clear as a bell without...

    Sediment on side of carboy

I tried both methods and it is still there. Should I stir it again?

What does everyone have in carboys right now

1- 6 gallon Mezza Luna Red Wine.

    Sediment on side of carboy

I am in the final (clearing) stage of a Mezza Luna Red wine and there is a sort of sediment that is clinging to the sides of the carboy all the way up to the top. It did not have this before I stirred it for the last time and added the stabilizers and clearing agent. It has been a little over a...

    Strawberry wine turned on.

I don't know if they are supposed to look like that. But I do know they tasted as I expected them to.

    Strawberry wine turned on.

It was about 1.00 and was like that for 2 months. Since it did not change I did not worry about it. When I moved the jugsthe last time I checked S.G. is when one of them started to bubble a bit in the airlock. I added K sorbate and K meta, sweetened and stirred and it stopped. Could have...

    Strawberry wine turned on.

I stabilized with potasium sorbate and K-Meta so it should not ferment any further.

    Strawberry wine turned on.

Here is a picture of the strawberry. As it turned out, one of the gallons seems a little cloudy (on left). Should be ok. I sampled both and one was a little sweeter than the other. I will age these for another year before drinking. I started them back in June.

    Best sanitizer for beer bottles?

Any suggestions on the best method for sanitizing beer bottles just prior to bottling?

    Strawberry wine turned on.

Thanks for the info. I will do just that. What kind of pictures do you want? In the jugs or in the bottles?
