    Titration Kits

They are good for country wines - but using them properly is a skill I have not mastered!

    boiling watermelon

Hey - I have made watermelon wine twice - used 100% watermelon juice. I pitched the yeast immediately and had no problems with infection.

    Stirring on second day?

I believe you are just mixing the layers as you suggest - I'm not sure if adding oxygen is part of it but, in any case, I stir it gently.

    Amarone volcano!

Don't know if this was a Mosti kit but they have you add yeast nutrient at the time of the first racking which can then lead to a volcano when you rack - one trick I learned here was to rack a liter or so into a separate container, then rack the rest to your big carboy. The yeast activity from...

First try with whole house filter

Thanks Arne - I'm going to try turning the filter over next time as there does seem to be a lot of wine left in the housing otherwise. Also - someone here suggested, which I tried, regarding airspace at the top to turn it over and let the housing fill - I did this and when I turned it...

    George's wine kit picks

You may have seen that George's special this month are a dozen kits he has found to make exceptional wines - http://www.finevinewines.com/Wine-of-the-Month.asp?utm_source=March+2012+Issue+of+Pressing+News&utm_campaign=FebNews&utm_medium=email (hope the link works). There...

    Bug in my wine

I think I would try to pull it out - I would be afraid that if I left it too long it would dissolve and disintegrate into the wine and then I would be thinking about it for sure whenever I drank any of the wine

    Holy Cow, Craigslist Find!

I gave up on mine - pulled the cooling unit out in case I want to use it for a future project, removed the bottle racks which were quite sturdy, and set the case out on the curb for large item pick up!

    Mosti Mondiale sulphite question

Hello Kixx and welcome to the forum! You had asked about the airlock - another option which many of us useis to add vodka to the airlock. It will keep out unwanted beasties and, in the somewhat unlikely eventit is sucked back into the fermenter/carboy, it won't add a lot of sulfite to your wine...

    PVC Capsules

My thermoencapsular also looks like Dan's and glows red. It is sort of pricey for such a narrow use but after I had the carboys I needed, the floor corker, etc. it made its way to the top of the list!

    which yeast for watermelon?

By the way - this is an inexpensive wine to make as you can get about a gallon of juice per melon (depending on the melon of course) but even when it comes out right, a lot of people just don't like it

    which yeast for watermelon?

No need to steam this one - just squeeze the juice out. My hands got tired of squeezing and I wished I had a small press

    Sunbelt Grapes

I'm not familiar with Sunbelt grapes but am always on the lookout for grapes that might do well in north Florida - do you know if these are vinifera?

    My first batch

Hello and welcome to the forum! I see no one has taken a stab at this so guess I will. It sounds like you have not bottled your wine yet but that it has been in a 5 gallon carboy in the garage for 11 months and is tasting stronger now. I am not sure exactly what flaw tasting stronger would...
