    making 1 gallon skeeter pee

I make my skeeter pee from the remnants of my sparkling white wine. I prime the bottles as I would for beer, add the pee, and lo! Skeeter Pee with a natural sparkle.

    Dare to be different

I didn't really come across any problems regarding the sweetness of the pee, after all, you are bottling this stuff before it fully ferments out all the sugar. I used the lees from the sparkling wine I made, and let it ferment down to (I think) sg1.000, but I would imagine sg1.010 would be...

    Dare to be different

Just a little update on the sparkling skeeter pee. The wine elves came and drank it all......... Ok, that's a lie, I finished the last bottle last night. It was rather nice, and had so much fizz, it was scary to look at. I think I may be catching the skeeter pee bug.

    Dare to be different

Ok, I bottled the brew on Saturday. I know it seems very quick, but it had fermented out, and had cleared to 'a bit murky'. The weather last week in Scotland was inordinately hot for March. In fact, it would have been inordinately hot for June/July. So I primed and bottled the pee. Of...

Post pictures of your wine workbench

Lummy! All I've got is a 2 foot square patch of floor behind the kitchen door, 1 kitchen drawer, the top shelf of a wardrobe, and the finished product bunged in a corner of a cupboard. I'm deeply jealous.:D

    Dare to be different

Hi folks, just finished 1 gal of sparkling apple, orange and white grape juice wine, and started on some pee with the lees. Now, along with the 1118 yeast, I flung in a bit of general yeast that was left in the bottom of the container. The skeeter pee took off and is having fun. I kept...

Where to get one gallon recipes ?

Making only 1 gal of wine is a good idea while you work out what recipies you like. I then make 5 gal of the wine I'm happy with. Sure, it's annoying when you're 1 gal batch of wine is just so nice, you wish you'd made the 5 gal. Hey ho, just confidently get a big batch started, knowing...

    Glycerin Question

A teaspoon per gallon of wine seems to work well, although I reduce this to 3/4 of a teaspoon for white wine. (Just my personal taste).

Never made any sloe wine yet, but I do have a rumtoft full of sloe gin hidden in the bottom of a cupboard. As for Dumfries, one of my favourite places to go walking is in Dumfries & Galloway.

One of my better purchases for my hobby

Funnily enough, I just bought one of those yesterday. Just point and press the trigger.

I'm afraid not, I had to start from scratch, but I was lucky. The husband got me 3 x 5 gallon plastic fermentaion barrels for about £2 each, and my 6 x 1 gallon demi-jons have cost me very little. The prices ranging from £3 down to free. I'm planning to do a lot more hedgerow fruit wine...

Hi Peeps. Joined ages ago, but have only lurked a bit, so it's time I did something about it.:h I've not long got back into winemaking after a 20+ year break, when I used to make a lot of fruit based wines. Just started a gallon of apple and orange juice sparking wine tonight. It's the...
