I fish for crappie and catfish. Haven't been out on the water for almost 2 months and I'm itching to get back out there. :fsh

    re-intruduceing myself

Thanks for the paint straining bag tip. My wife buys the bags of frozen triple berry, which includes blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. I'm thinking of trying that blend for a wine.

    re-intruduceing myself

That's one way I thought about doing it. I also thought about buying the bags of frozen fruit and extract the juices to use.

    re-intruduceing myself

Yep; from what I've read and watched videos of, it looks easier and getting ingredients taken care of in the kitchen and into the fermentor may not take as long either. It's the waiting for it to ferment is where I'll have to have more patience. :b

    re-intruduceing myself

Thanks again! I'm looking at making some fruit wines in 1 gallon and 3 gallon batches. I've looked at ingredient kits for 5 gallon batches but am looking to not pay as much. My wife and I like the sweet wines. I also like some semi-sweet wines, but we really don't care too much for the dry...

    Enameled Pot(?)

using an enameled pot would work, as long as the enamel isn't cracked. once the enamel is cracked, the steel (which isn't stainless) under the enamel would eventually start to rust. so as long as the enamel isn't cracked, go ahead and use it. i, myself, have one of each, stainless and enamel.

    Bottles to Use/Avoid?

stick with brown bottles--other colors will let light to pass through easier, ruining the flavor of the beer. also, avoid twist-off tops as they will not get as good a seal when capping as a pry-off top will. i've always had good luck with reusing sam adams bottles as they are pry-off. the...

    oregon fruit puree

if buying the frozen berries from a sam's club, costco, etc., would work better, my next question would be how many pounds of berries might i need to make a 1 and/or 3 gallon batch? also, would the amount of pounds depend on the kind of berries (blueberry, raspberry, cherry, etc.) to be use...

    new from iowa

thanks for the welcome, everybody! i think having some good fruit wine on hand with my homebrew would help change things up on the question of "what should i have to drink tonight?". plus, my wife goes through more wine than she beer throughout the year. :ot: as i'm sure i'll have plenty of...
