Oh yes, the food is just superb. We lived in the north in Aviano and the food was so different than what you find in the south but the wine is great no matter where you go. What I found especially interesting is that no matter how small the plot of land, the residents always had grapevines...

You won't be sorry. Italy has to be the most beautiful place on earth and so much to see. If you have the chance, make sure to go to Assissi. The whole place is just beautiful and the bldgs are all made from the same pink shade of stone. It is one of my favorite places but with over 100,000...

Now Wade, What kind of question is that . Of course we had to "TRY" it. And it is actually very good. Even at this young stage. As a matter of fact, we ended up with a partial bottle of which I am enjoying a glass of as I type. I am very pleased with our first attempt and look forward to many...

Awww, Amarone, the wine of the Gods. I do believe and this is my own personal opinion, it is the most wonderful wine in the world. In fact, I have a story about Amarone. While stationed in Italy at Aviano AB we took a trip to Verona for an outside opera; while we were there we strolled through...

    aging in a frig

We got an old frig that we plan on using to age bottled white. My husband plans on modifying it. Whatis the preferred temperature to age white wine? Would 43* f be too cold? What is the preferred temp to age red wine?

    Mosti Mondiale Vinifera Noble Shiraz

Ok, I am ready to tackle my next wine but while reading the instructions, it say's not to use spring water or distilled water, to only use "chlorine free" water. I used spring water on my first and only kit so far and it seems to have worked just fine. Any ideas on this? Why wouldn't spring...

lack of bubbles in air lock

We spun the hydrometer as directed on the test. Don't think the temp is any different. Will check again tomorrow. What would it mean to get a higher reading today than last Friday, other than the bubble thing?

    Introduction

I guess I neglected to introduce myself when I joined this forum a few weeks ago. Actually, there are two of us, myself (Penny) and my husband(Mike). We are newbies to wine making but not to wine enjoyment. Spent a couple of years in northern Italy where we learned to appreciate good wine and...
