Boun Vino Minijet (First Use - Failure)

Well, Smokegrub, your analogy of the filtering process in the wastewater treatment process will certainly give me a different perspective the next time I use my MiniJet - guess I just never compared the two processes! On the other hand, I work for the government, so I have to mentally filter a...

    The Cats Meow Wine Cellar

Waldo: Since I work for Emergency Management, maybe I should come over and inspect that cellar - and just to help you out. Is that 28 gallons bulk aging all the same flavor - or do I get to inspect more than one kind??? Sorry you've had the crud. I was in D.C. the first week in April, came home...

    STRETCHING SUPER-KLEER KC

NW - I did exactly the same thing last week and it worked beautifully. I had a 2-gallon batch of cranberry and a 2-gallon batch of blueberry. Because these had originally had real fruit pulp, I really wanted to be sure they cleared well, but I just didn't want to spend the extra $$ for super...

    CRANBERRY WINE

I've got a cranberry experiment fermenting now. I used the cranberry recipe from FVW, but I adjusted it to make a 2-gallon batch. However, I also added four cans of jellied cranberry sauce. I put two cans of sauce and 1 can of water in the blender and puree'd, then repeated. I really thought it...

    New Label

I LOVE it - that is so amazing. I'm jealous of you guys who create these wonderful labels. I really like the "mad scientist" thing - that's what I feel like sometimes with these experiments.

How many carboys do you own?

Well, you see, the State of Oklahoma allows me to make up to 200 gallons per year without having to be licensed. Since I'm just paranoid enough to suspect that somebody from the state ABC board belongs to this forum, I better not tell how many 6s and 5s I've got ! Just kidding. I actually have...

WineXpert Intro and a few questions

Welcome, ET. I appreciate your statement about having enough rushing in your life . . . you will find it is great therapy to sit and watch the air bubbles (like Waldo said) and listen to their little heart beats "thump-thump . . . thump-thump . . . thump-thump" Verrrry soothing. Be prepared -...

    Carboy mold - HELP

Wow - I've had a nagging question and I'll bet you guys will have the answer. Is there any way to have our finished product tested for purity or perhaps just the lack of bacteria or other untoward little creatures? We do everything we can to insure good sanitation practices (my background is in...

Peter - That's a great idea. I think I'll try making them that way. Thanks for the information.

    WineXpert Lambrusco

Can you tell us what is the primary difference between the two Lambrusco kits that George sells?

WineXpert Just started my first wine kit. have a concern

Just for info . . . handwashing is a really important part of that sanitizing issue. However, if you are going to be working with your equipment or wines, try not to use perfumed or oiled soaps, lotions, hand sanitizers, etc.

    Pumpkin Pie Mead Maine Style

Okay - it's been a year . . . how are the pumpkin meads doing? I want to try the pumpkin mead, but I'll have to use canned pumpkin and I thought I would check on your results before I start a batch.
