    Grape Supplier - Washington DC

Hi Dan, Sorry, I lost track of this tread. No, I have NOT bought from Harford Vineyard, but I have heard good things about them. I assume, from your forum name, that you're from Annapolis. If you'd rather head east across the bay instead of north toward Forest Hill, then I think there are...

    PH Meter

Thanks Runningwolf...that's just the type of info I was after. My problem is that even though I make a small amount of wine, I like to do most things at 110 percent. So, it is really tempting for me to play like the big boys. But, I agree...I'd be a bit foolish to think I need to spend the...

    PH Meter

This is a very timely question as I'm also thinking about investing in a pH meter. After searching the forums, I have found a few favorite meters, but it is hard for a new user like me to compare the different models. FYI...I make mostly country-type fruit wines with an occasional kit. I...

    Chocolate addition

There's an excellent article on Jack Keller's website (sorry, I'm a newby and I don't have enough posts to insert a hyperlink) about using chocolate. It includes an interesting recipe for strawberry/chocolate that I am currently making. It shows good promise. If you have time, I highly...

    Do camden tablets affect flavor?

    Thanks Robie...that makes perfect sense!

    Do camden tablets affect flavor?

Great question...great answer. Robie, please clarify. When you say, "While bulk aging, add about 2 crushed tablets every 2.5 to 3 months.", how much wine are you talking about? I have always understood that you only add 1 crushed tablet per 1 gallon of wine. Is this correct...

Do you skim the top off Blackberry Jam Slurry starter?

I do not skim mine. About 90 percent gets removed when racking to secondary and the rest is removed when racking off secondary to clearing stage.
