We are having both decks stained by a contractor. He recommended Behr Deck Over. But after reading reviews, we were not happy with the negative reviews.

Now he wants to use Zar. Is any one familiar with Zar? Exhaustive searched turned up no reviews.

What have you used that you have been happy with? Main deck is 25 years old and some boards will be replaced. The other deck is 13 years old and some boards will also be replaced.

Sorry haven't tried or even heard of Zar.
I would never, ever use Behr. It wears off very quickly as I have learned the hard way.

Hands down, by far, the best stain I've ever used is Sikkens. It lasts for years and years between coats.
Not sure where to buy in the U.S as it is a Canadian product.

Sikkens is definitely killer outdoor would stain. Neighbors across the street did their deck about 12-15 years ago, just recently had to re-do.

oops my bad... I was just on the Canada Sikkens web page.
It appears to be available worldwide.
