so i transfered my wine from the primary fermenter to the carboy. i did this yesterday. today, i noticed that the level that i toped it to with water went down. i also noticed that the air lock that i filled with water half way was empty. what is happening and what should i do?

Im guessing that your area is experiencing a pretty serious barometric pressure difference or the wine has suffered from a serious temp change. As long as you had k-meta solution or vodka in your airlock you are fine, if it wqas just water you should be fine also as its early in the game and the water was most likely fresh. If it were bulk aging for a 6 months to a year then that water would be pretty nasty and probably contain bacteria and might contaminate your batch if you werent up on sulfite additions.
