I think that we might have ourselfs a little competittion here.. What is the highest yall have managed to push your yeasties?

My record is 16.5 percent using priemier cuvree on my milk wine with enough sugar added from the start to push up to 17 percent.

Post what you were fermenting and the yeast strain used.

Oh....pushed your YEASTIES. I thought you sayed something else. I was recalling a weekend a few years back with the McKenzie triplets....but I digress.

Alas, my highest was is a meager 12.5% with my peach/blueberry wine. Amazed I avoided it tasting like rocket fuel, it being my first wine.

Personally I think that pushing yeasties for high alcohol wine is wrong. One, it's not my style. Two, done improperly, there's a chance of stressing the yeast and ending up with a stuck ferment.

Despite, the above comment, I've got everybody beat so far.

Using Turbo Yeast, sugar, and water, I've reached 19-20% alcohol. Of course, I wasn't making wine, but that's not mentioned in the original criteria.
