What are you using to top off carboys with CO2 to protect the cap?

I have my wine in a big mouth bubbler for primary fermentation/extended maceration and after my last punch down, I noted that I haven't had any bubbles through the airlock. I am worried that I have lost my CO2 cap. I would like to top it off, but am not exactly sure how to do so.

Or am I better off just tossing some sanitized marbles in there to reduce the headspace and avoid a reaction with wine and the CO2?

After about 10 days in the primary, I usually hit the wine with Kmeta and seal up my fermonster. Then, I just swirl/agitate the wine to keep the skins wet until they sink.

There is no deleterious "reaction" to worry about. You can safely top off with a similar wine.
