It seems that food and wine have become very popular on the television lately.
I was really surprised last night when I came on one already going that had a session on grapes coming by the trailer load to the winery.
Then of course the hosts of the show were taken into the winery's private cellar.
They claimed to save a couple thousand bottles from each year.
I was very surprised when they decided to taste an old bottle,, 1958.
What surprised me the most though was they cleaned the neck, and then using heat and water, cut the neck off just below the cork! He wiped the broken area off with a towel and then proceeded to pour glasses to try!
I would worry about the glass more than a broken cork!

There is an old technique in which officers in the 1800's
cut off the neck of a champagne bottle with a sword.
I have lost the name somewhere, but it still is practiced.
