I helped my step-son move some stuff from an old tobacco barn this morning and discovered an old fruit press stashed away in there. It's a ratchet type, made mostly of what appears to be cast iron. The only wood is the slat "basket" and some thick round slices that look as if they are supposed to be placed on top of the fruit once it is in the press.
This thing is probably 250lbs and everything appears to be there, and in good shape, although dusty, dirty filthy.

I asked him if he thought the lady that owned the property would sell it and he said, "You can have it, she gave me anything I wanted in the barn and I don't want that."

Gonna go retrieve it tomorrow. Think I will sand blast it, clean it up this winter for a project and have it powder coated. Might even attempt to use it!!
