vintage 55gallon oak wine barrel

I think youre nuts! What makes you think this barrel is worth much at all? We can buy a brand new 1 for about that much and be guaranteed to hold water and not have bacteria. Do you know how to care for wine barrel, if so please tell us how just to prove it. I would value this barrel as only being good for collecting rain for a garden or as a yard decoration.

The going rate for a used barrel of that size is around $75-$95 or so. The asked price here is what you can buy a new barrel for. But, anyone has the right to sell an item for what ever they wish to sell for.

Wine Barrels
Wine barrels, new, used for flavoring or storage.
Attached is a site that you can buy used barrels.
Always be sure to get the history of the barrel (will indicate how much is left in the barrel to exhibit flavoring) And confirm cleanliness, and how it was stored(Gased,ect)

Thanks for the link. When they state size is that gallons? Met, that barrel looks in very good condition but it how it was maintained and how many times it was used that makes the price. If wine was made in it and then it sat in a basement for a years then it could have developed a bacteria and getting that bacteria out of wood is next to impossible and no one wants to risk 55 gallons of their precious product

Wine barrels are 63 gallons.
Wine barrels are An English and later British unit of capacity, a quarter of a tun, = 63 wine gallons. After conversion to imperial measure in 1824, the hogshead became 52.5 imperial gallons, about 238.7 liters.
