per usual the cooperative extension was no help.
But my hunch was correct.
After spending some time reading and reading and reading online as the name suggest potato leaf hoppers do in fact prefer potatoes or so the internet says.
I will test it this year but my plan is to plant some potatoes in pots and give them a healthy dose of systemic pesticide.
They will die from the lure before getting a chance to die from the grapes which will also receive the recommended dose of systemic pesticide as well as some nets.
Why the need for a lure of the grapes are getting a systemic?
Potato Leaf hopper acts as a vector for the transmission of pierces disease so only 1 bite is enough to transmit it.....I want them to waste that bite on those potatoes!
Also the potato leaf hopper will continuously feed from its host once selected.
Now that I have a strat for all of the major insect pest in my area I can focus my attention on those cursed nematodes!
