Obviously a clear wine has more eye appeal, and I uderstand the importance of a clear wine to be entered in a competition.

But other than eye appeal, is there really any reason to clear a wine? Is there any difference in taste?

Yes can B. just depends on how fast you bottle. It's kinda mind over matter.
It it looks good your Brain (maybe not urs Troy LOL:)) you will "think" it taste good. Look at some of the presentations done on Iron Chef...

Actually, I don't think there is any difference but when I taste a wine that is still cloudy, I do not think it is a good wine at that point. I honestly think it is all in my mind.

It really is just a matter of taste/perception and marketing......

Marketing ??????
yes marketing....

We used to have clear apple juice and orange juice over here on sale in the grocery stores.
After some carefull marketing of a large juice company everyone wants juice with the fruit-flesh in it !!!!
