I was looking at a Apple Concentrate Wine recipe today and it called for ¼ tsp Tannin. I was not smart enough to order any when I ordered my stuff. Is there a handy substitute available in most pantries?

Tea Time

I made a 1 gallon mead recipe and it called for tannin by steeping a very strong cup of black tea. I think this is more of a "to tase" method. The author said it was how they did it before you could buy tannin specifically.

Like Kiljoy said: tea is the way to go.

Do not used the parfumed teas like fruit teas or spice teas.
Use the regular teas. Black tea is preferred.
It has a lot of tannin.
Put a few bags in a cup of hot water and let it sit for
an hour or so.
Then add to the must.
