I have an Island Mist 'Strawberry White Merlot' kit that I am doing. When I put it in the secondary it had a SG of 1.005, and now, after two weeks, it is only down to 1.000, and the airlock hasn't shown any activity in a while - it's about 'done'.

The paperwork with the kit says the SG should be .996 or lower, so I didn't make it. Should I re-add yeast to kick start it that last bit, or is 1.000 close enough to .996 that I am good to go ?

If it helps, it was an older kit shelf-life wise, but I used a fresh packet of yeast, not the yeast that was with the kit (exact same type though).

Thanks !

1.048. This is one of those 'wine cooler' type kits, so it will wind up with a lower alcohol content than normal wine.

These kits have a tendency to stop right around there, no problem, just add the finishing pack until the sweetness desired.
