I've been reading about Sparkolloid vs SuperKleer and the dreaded whispies. I just started using Sparkolloid and am happy with the early results. I'm seeing rapid clearing and the lees were not a problem with careful racking.

My question is . . . is the appearance of whispies an eventual foregone conclusion or can they be eliminated with additional racking and aging?

Thanks,
Tim

Probably be removed with additional racking(s) or filtering.

For me, it just became easier to use SuperKleer and not have to deal with them.

In the end, they didn't affect the taste, etc., just made people wonder if you "gifted" them a bottle.

Local vinyard recommended adding sparkelloid and then cold stabilize it. The tartaric crystals will hold down the lees and keep them from making a mess.
