Same type oak in different wines

Will the same type of oak variety & toast (spirals in this case) -- react differently or the same -- when used in conjunction with bulk aging different types of wine?

So would I expect same or different oak outcomes using a med toast American oak spiral in a Malbec vs Tempranillo vs Cab vs Super Tuscan etc.

The outcomes should be similar, but different grape varieties interact with oak differently.
