Hello everyone,
Just a question for the Experts, I started a Chilian Malbec Thursday morning, everything looks good, the starting S.G. was 1.08, now 72hrs later it's 1.02. I'm not worried, but is this about normal? This is my first kit.
Thanks
Steve

Yes you are doing fine. Probably rack into primary today. SG will be damn close to 1.o1 today.

that was todays reading of 1.02...Now, I had my wife take the reading because I'm not at home, and wont get home until Wednesday morning. Will it be OK until then?

It will be fine, I never rack my red wines until they have finished fermenting fully.

Steve:

I don't even check the sg until a week is up. So Wed will be fine.
Steve

Some wines ferment faster depending on YOUR conditions. Temp has alot to do with it and how fresh the yeast is.
Your on your way to a nice wine. I love Malbec and Casmenere. :b
