I'm looking for a rubber stopper for a 1 gallon glass jug. My opening is 37mm or 1.45 inches. A number 7 stopper is too small. I am considering 7.5 or 8.5mm. Do you know which might fit best. Thank you for your response.

Do you have a "standard" one gallon jug? By that I mean the kind that, say, Carlo Rossi wine came in years ago. I have several one-gallon jugs and a 6.5 stopper fits them well and a 7 can be squeezed in with some effort. The diameter of the opening is 1 and 1/16". You are saying that a number 7 is "too small," so I am guessing that you have a unique jug.

This might help you. Looks like a #8 would be just the ticket.

You are so kind responding and posting that chart! Thank you very much. My gallon jugs contained fruit juice from the 1990's. I worked at a food production plant where I got these free!
