Greetings. My name is Brian, my fiance is Stacy. We recently relocated from Cleveland Oh to Harrisburg PA. Having no friends and lots of time on our hands we decided to make some wine. Back home we were friends with the owners of a wine bar and we liked to frequent the wineries (Which there are a ton in NE Ohio). We had no idea that the wine bar made all their wines using kits!... So I started digging up info on how to make the kits and what was needed, we started picking the brains of the bar owners on what to do. We figured we already really liked their wines so they must know what they are doing right? =) So Thanksgiving weekend we put down our first kit. Italian Sangiovase quickly to be followed by a Sov Blanc... They are both bottled and we we have a Cab Franc in Primary and on deck we have Cab. Sov., Australian Shiraz, and Green Apple Resiling.

Talk to you soon =)

-Brian

(TeamKA is a nickname we gave ourselves as it is the first initials of our last name because we always work so well together)

Welcome Team,
My B.I.L. lives just outside H-burg. Did you find any "wine bars" in the area? Where do you get your kits? I also know there is a Craft Brewer :b in H-burg. You might ck that out as well.

Welcome aboard Brian. I went up to Cleveland over the holidays to Leeners and also to World Wines in Mentor. Both of those places are pretty neat. You may be new in town but you're never alone in making wine when you hang out here. We look forward to your questions.

We get our kits and equipment from Scotzin Bros, so far they have had everything we have needed plus much much more.

We have not found any local wine bars in Harrisburg.... yet. But we've been so busy with our new jobs and getting settled that we have not had much chance to get out at all.

When we do, I'll report in =)

Huh... I had never heard of Leeners before. But then again we had just started researching the hobby as we were moving. I bought my initial equipment kit from World of Wines in Mentor. I was shocked to find how over priced all their stuff is. I'm glad I moved away and found a retailer with far more reasonable prices.

I grew up in the Mentor area so if you ever go back shoot me a message and I'll point you to some of the best places to go in the area for wine.

Welcome KA, What brand kits are you making? Im glad to have you here on our site.

Hey KA,

Welcome to PA!

I am also from the Harrisburg area and visit Scotzin Bros often. They have an awesome selection and some really good bargains. Just make sure you check the date codes on their kits and yeast. I was there over lunch today and spotted a few kits from 2007 and some yeast that was several months past its prime...but otherwise, it is a great place!

Slopenutz, Thanks for the advise we'll have to check that next time we pickup a kit. Unfortunatly all our kits are in fermenters already so no going back now =)

Wade, We have been making Winexpert Select series ect. We just put the Limited Edition South African Shiraz in last night.

TB1, Stacy and I did make it to the farm show... however she was more interested in petting the animals then anything else. That and the place was a MAD HOUSE! There were sooooo many people and poor foot traffic control that you could not hardly move around at all so we left.... Maybe next time we will not go on opening day! =)

You guys close to the Hollywood Casino? I was there last summer. No table games but a lot of slots.

I work about 20mins from that casino. Table games were approved by the state a couple weeks ago and Hollywood will be putting in rougly 250 tables of Craps, poker, Roulete, Blackjack, and something else. They said it will be about 6-9 months before the tables are in and open as they need to buy the tables and train staff.

Nice, my company sends us with our clients on trips during the summer. Maybe we will go there again. I won more than I lost. Which was a first. Wish I could say the same about my Vegas trip lol.

lol... yea, slots always take my money... so I quit playing them and switched to Craps and Poker. I'm really excited to be able to drive 45mins to gamble rather then 4hrs from Cleveland. Although Ohio passed Casino's in November so they will be building some soon as well.
