A pretty please from me..

When responding to posts.. if you could take a moment to check if the person is new here and modify posts accordingly..new people are somewhat concerned about posting, due to being flamed for asking basic questions on other sites.

We were all new once and.... well, lets be honest.. we've probably all watched someone being flamed, or been flamed ourselves.

If we can keep our small corner of the web flame free..

I'm sure we all appreciate it being as friendly as it is.

Allie :bt

Blimey Allie. You know when you see a policeman and feel instantly guilty? I've just had to read through my posts to see if I accidentally flamed someone! LOL.

the way i see it, if i don't like reading a post/thread, i just skip it. if i can help, i try. it's not a bad thing to suggest searching for some topics as the are repeated, but sometimes the question is a little different even on the same topic. forum's are a great resource, both in the knowledge already here and the knowledge/experience of it's members.

Really guys.. it's just a reminder.. no finger pointing.. ( mike come out of that corner LOL!)

I've noted a few comments in the past week, where new people have been surprised to find that their posts here, have been answered nicely and that their experiences elsewhere have been rather poor in comparison.

We all own the group and how it is run really.

Oh and did you know? When I first became admin and had access to the stats here.. we had roughly 30 members visiting daily. Now we have well over 150 members visiting here daily.. with most posting something before they leave.

Not bad for an international specialist group huh?

oh yeah...this was posted because .. um.. it's important you guys get feedback from admin about how well you run this group for us..

OK?

Allie

A very good thread St. Allie! :br
I belong to a M/C forum that is also world wide and has close to 30,000 members, though not all very active members.
On there we have found that being you are reading the words and not seeing the emotion in someone's face, you can easily take their words incorrectly.
They strongly encourage the use of the emoticons to show when you are joking it up and having a good time pulling anothers leg.

If Troy drinks one of hs bottles in the corner he may not be able to come out of that corner for quite some time as he usually likes to experiment with the higher gravities despite our suggestions not to.

I agree with Alli on the need to censor oneself sometimes! And while I haven't observed it ever on this forum, I cringe seeing new members get bashed on other boards for "newbie type" questions....

When I think back to 1 yr ago when I joined, - I asked really dumb questions and was always treated with assistance, respect and kindness. Now I have many successful batches behind me (thanks to this board - which is soooo above any other, BTW) and do make an attempt to share my experiences with others as much as possible.

When friends complement / ask me how I learned to make wine, I just say I have an international team behind me :)

XXOOO
THANKS EVERYONE!!!

I too agree and this is the third thread asking for this, please everyone, play nicely. Please cesor yourself also with users you do know because sometimes people have a bad day and just cant focus on reading a post the way it was meant to read and sometimes the way we may word it can be taken both ways. I believe one of the other threads on this subject was named "Please everyone"!

I'm thinking of starting a 4th thread entitled "Simmer Down Now" but perhaps I'll just heed that advise first.

simmer down now.
