So I'm looking into buying a new ratchet basket press as the one I inherited has a bent threaded shaft beyond repair(would have liked to have a new one made for it but no one wants to touch it because of the buttress threading, and the people that would want around $1500). So my question is who makes the best basket press? Looking into getting either a #35 or #40 I found a lot of different manufacturers but wondering if some are better than others. Thank you in advance.

I can't recommend what to buy, but I suggest not buying Chinese manufacture. Read the reviews -- commonly there are problems with the cheap steel, coatings flaking, etc.

I hav a basket press that was adapted to use a hydraulic jack instead of the ratchet. The middle shaft is as removed and two threaded rods placed on the outside with a metal plate across the top. I think I have a picture I’ll post.

You might adapt yours.

I have a Marchisio basket press (#30) and it's good quality. If you can find one (they seem to be uncommon), I recommend getting the stainless steel version rather than wood. (I originally ordered a #35 but they delivered a #30... I have since had a subsequent problem with the store where I bought it, so I won't recommend them)
