Today I noticed a pear tree growing at the end of my driveway but the good feeling was quickly dashed after identifying it as a callery pear but perhaps I can make lemonade from a lemon.

Can this be used as root stock? When it gets bigger? Currently only about 4 feet tall.

Meaning I can "undwarf" a pear tree if I wanted?

Lastly and most important; using it as rootstock won't pass on the lack of fruit will it? From what I read vigor, disease resistance, cold resistance and soil adaptability are what's passed from root to tree

what ever you graft onto this tree will be true to the graft icion. the root stock exhibits the characteristics you defined. if you do graft try different varieties. my Dad did four varieties once on one tree. lots of fun. Google the various ways to graft. start searching neighbor hood or other locales for fruit desired then get you icions this spring.
