I’m pruning my hybrids this week. Temperatures are to plunge Saturday to 11 degrees. Should I wait to finish? I can’t get back to the vineyard for about two weeks. I don’t think any will break bud before April but I hate to take the chance. I don’t know what is riskiest?

I finished pruning my Marquette last week, just sprayed with copper to try to kill overwintering spores. Long term forecast looks really good, if it could be trusted. It always amazes me how much needs to be pruned every year.

As it turned out with the bad weather rolling in, I did not finish pruning last week. So we'll see if there is a difference and how late March pruning affects bud break. Every year since I planted in 2019, we have had late May frost or freezes so I've been late pruning and double pruning to delay bud break. My Marquette really needs a delay!
