I just started this kit yesterday. I had a question about oak. Included in the kit was 30 grams of American Toasted Oak and they had me add this to the primary before pitching the yeast. It was almost in powder form and it seems this is going to make for a real mess when it comes time to rack and clear the wine. I've never used oak before so will this eventually settle to the bottom with the sediment?

I'm doing a cellarcraft merlot which had oak chips.. almost like oak slivers really.. they do settle out to the bottom. Most are gone after the first racking.

The "powder" almost dissolves. No need to worry about racking. Whats left will fall to the bottom.
