Some people just don't get it. This was a conversation between me, and my 14 year old son this afternoon:
He: "What's THAT stuff?" (eying the carboy of plum wine)
Me: "Wine"
He: "What's that thing on top?"
Me: "That's the airlock. Watch it for a minute."
He: "Why's it bubbling?"
Me: "It's fermenting. The airlock keeps the air out, and lets the gases escape."
He: "So it's rotting."
Me: "It's not rotting, it's fermenting."
He: "Milk ferments if it's too old. Orange juice ferments, if it gets old, right?"
Me: "That's right."
He: "So it's rotting...." (as he walked away)
