Finished and ready to bottle looks and smells wonderful but has a bitter aftertaste. Is this normal for this kit? Final SG after adding F-Pack is 1.020. Should this smooth out on its own. If so how long? Don't really want to add a conditioner with such a high SG already.

Any suggestions?

If the kit wasn't out of date and you followed all instructions, including best temp to ferment it at..should be a sweet finish at 1.020...

I'd suggest the bitter aftertaste is just your personal tastebuds..and it will mellow with cellaring.

... don't know what quality the R J Spagnols are, is that a high end kit? we don't get those here.

Ive never heard nyone describe this kit as bitter. The taste on these doesnt change much at all. Have someone else taste it and see if it tates the same to them.

Must agree with Wade here.

My question would be ... are you tasting dissolved CO2?
