Thanks, I'm aware of all that. I appreciate you posting to try to help out. Costs are high. I have found a club a couple hours away that brings in CA grapes and presses the juice. Maybe that will work out.
The Finer Wine kits are actually cheaper than most - I got 2 red kits, each with double grape skins delivered to my door for $240. They're really nice.
 
Bottling day! I skipped it last night and drank wine instead. Oh baby, when this goes dry during carb it is gonna be a good one. It's really a Kirin knockoff, only darker due to my use of dark DME to boost SSG. Won't need that next time, as I have now calculated the proper amount of barley. Finished batch: 5 gallons. Yield: 52 bottles. ABV: 4.2 – which is perfect, in my book. It's the number I shoot for. Cost: $23.50. There is 25 pounds of 2-row on the way for the next couple brew days.
