Meissen Winegrowers' Cooperative and Radebeul Brewery Present "Bennobräu

The Sächsische Winzergenossenschaft Meissen and the Brauhaus Radebeul have presented the new beer-wine hybrid "Bennobräu". After several trials, a white wine with a high acid content was added to the brewing process and brewed with it. After one week of fermentation and three weeks of maturing in the tank, the Bennobräu has now been bottled as sparkling wine. The makers see the idea behind the drink as being similar to that of a vintage sparkling wine, because each vintage should have its own nuances of taste, both in wine and hops. The producers also recommend Bennobräu as a sparkling wine alternative.

Dogfish Head Brewery has been making a beer made with white grapes off and on for a long time, I’m sure other craft breweries do to.

They can make whatever kind of drink they want n Germany, but can’t call it “beer” if it has any of the forbidden ingredients.

Yep, you're right there. It used to be that German beer was pure malt .It's changing now, but that's the way of the world! Modern living.
