Two of our friends vacationed in Umbria in September. One night while dining in a small family restaurant, the host selected a bottle of Sangiovese for them. They were impressed with the wine but failed to get any information, ship a case home or even worse, to send me a bottle!! They did remember to snap a picture of the front label but not the reverse.

The wine was Sangiovese, Indicazione Geografica Tipca produced by Lungarotti Winery. I’ve located the winery via the internet but still trying - unsuccessfully - to locate an importer/retailer in the U.S.


If you have any information about procuring this wine short of a trip back to Umbria (which I’m all in favor of !), please pass along.

Unfortunately a lot of smaller wineries do not export. It's very possible this one doesn't. Contact the winery and ask if they export.

Update: Bryan, found the wine (different vintage however) on Vivino.com. The wine is listed but not sure its available - doesn't register when I select. I'll keep you posted.
