I was burying a new vine and when I was putting the finishing touches on it my shovel topped over and snapped the primary shoot on my Chardonnay #76.
It’s a grafted vine so not much material to work with. The vine snapped but it was not fully broken and there was no crease; about half of the vine was severed but the other half was in the shape of a (.
I acted quickly, went and retrieved some grafting wax then put the vine back together and applied wax generously. Next I clipped off some excess growth and slid on a nvine tube.
It’s looking well with new growth.
Just one question:
On average how long would a wound like that take to heal?
