someone out there has done this one. I am only doing 1 gallon. I have 10 large grapefruits. Going to peel and take the fruit put into bag. Dont want any of the white pithy stuff. Thiking about adding some of the Zest from about 3-4 of them. Sugar to S.G. of 1.080-1.090 and water to 1 gal. yeast nutrient and energizer. Anything I am missing? Any other ideas?

Started it today. Recipe as follows should be about 1 gal. +

8 grapefruit - fruit only no white part of the peel
the zest of 4 grapefruit about 4 tsps.
about 1.5 lbs of sugar or s.g. 1.080-1.090 (8 hrs after starting I am at 1.084)
3/4 gal of warm water
1/4 tsp tannin
1/2 tsp yeast energizer
1 tsp yeast nutrient
1 tsp pectic enzyme
1 campden crushed campden tablet
wait 24 hrs and add yeast. I am using Lavlin D47

At this point my basement smells lovely. Will add the yeast in the morning before I head to work. My wife was going to pitch the grapefruit. I hope I was right to stop her.

Keep us informed on this one. Think I have heard grapefruit can do some strange things, but havn't tried it so let us know how it goes. Arne.

I did a grapefruit/orange skeeter pee version. Came out great but can't taste the orange much, the grapefruit is pretty powerful. Good thing I like grapefruit! Definitely a good idea not to throw them out
