I've never seen this done! Never mind about the recipe. Fast forward through until you get to the wine bottle opening part (somewhere early midway). Would you do this? Have you done it?

Appreciate it if you'd post results. In theory, the alcohol should expand and pop the cork but if I try it the bottle will crack and the wine will go everywhere. Both are scientific facts!!! :D

It looks like they got it hot enough to boil off a little wine, you can see it vaporize just after the cork leaves the bottle.

Very doubtful if this would actually work. Like you said, My thinking is that in order to heat the wine/air in the neck, usually the thickest part of the bottle, you first have to heat the glass. Once the wine comes into contact with the superheated glass, I would think that it would shatter due to thermal shock.

... But of course I will give it a try.

So it's been long enough, anybody try it? I will eventually, on a bottle of hootch. Just in case!
