Hi I'm Todd from Thousand Oaks, CA. A neighbor nearby has a backyard vineyard, so that tells me that it's possible in my yard, too. I think I will be starting with 50-60 vines on a south-facing slope. Maybe Syrah and Rousanne, but I'm not to that decision point yet. I think I can do 4 foot vine spacing with 4 foot rows, as the slope ranges from 12 to 25 degrees, so my calculation for east-west rows tells me there won't be much canopy shading for the growing season. I think my next step is soil testing, Anybody have good resources for soil testing?
