First barrel, how to vacuum rack

Just finishing new Vadai barrel prep, will put in a red in over the weekend. Can I vacuum rack into/out of the barrel at low vacuum? Bought a solid silicon bung & a one hole bung, thinking of taking the std wood bung & drilling 2 holes in it for my vacuum racking. Make sense? Thanks in advance, Roy

Doubtful to rack into a barrel, but out is easy.

You need a non-porous vessel that can hold a very low pressure to rack into. A wood barell is not non-porous.

You can try, but I havemy doubts.

I had the same thoughts, but I think I can vacuum rack into it at low inches of vacuum, and increase slightly till it flows. Maybe Vacuum Pump Man has done it,Roy
