I'm confused on my White Zinfandel alcohol content.

The initial meaurement on day onewas 1.085

The next measurement was .995 on day 28, I have one more racking to do until my wine is complete (day 45).

I can't determine what my alcohol level is.

Your alcohol level is around 11.66% based on your starting S.G. of 1.085. See my chart at:

http://www.finevinewines.com/brix_table.asp

Basically, Yeast converts 53% of the sugar to alcohol and 47% to CO2 (Carbon Dioxide). With at starting S.G. of 1.085, the Brix was 22. 22 times .53 = 11.66%.

As an aside, the reason the final hydrometer reading is less than 1.000 is that alcohol is lighter than water.
