Hi all,

I'm looking for an easy-to-use, inexpensive means of increasing temperature during fermentation and came across the FermWrap (https://morewinemaking.com/products/fermwrap-heater.html).

However, all references I've found in this forum pertain to use on carboys or plastic fermenters, both of which are smaller and different material than my 290L Speidel stainless steel tank. I know I'd need to buy multiple FermWraps for the larger vessel but wondering if I should I be concerned w/ using them on stainless steel?

If not, do you think the FermWrap is my best option given my desire for easy use/low price?

Thanks!

I know this thread is old but I thought I'd reply and let you know what i found. I tried to use one of those ferm wraps on my 110L Speidel and it didn't really work even though my tank was only half full. That thing is only 30w. It barely got warm to the touch. It was basically barely heating up 1 degree per day and got to where it couldn't get any hotter at around 70 degrees.
I ended up buying a steel drum / barrel heater wrap that is for a 30 gallon drum. A 30 gallon drum is within 1 inch of the same diameter of my 110L speidel.

It doesn't meet your requirement of "cost effective" though. I found a "used" one on amazon for $70 that looked new. It is the WarmGuard WG30. There's a 55 gallon version too that may be a good fit for a larger tank.
It is also insulated so it's already going to be way more effective than the 30w fermwrap. The WG30 is 280 watts.
