My inbox is getting filled up with alerts from this site, and I've tried searched for a way to stop it and failed every time.

I come here regularly and check in. The first thing I do is check my alerts at the top of the page to see what's going on. I dont need an email notifying me of each one. Its clogging my inbox to the point I can't find what I'm looking for anymore.

How do I turn this off?

Go to the "Alert Preferences" page under your "Profile Page" and unselect all boxes that are checked off by default.

Will I still get alerts with the bell icon at the top of the page when I log in?

Yes. Just uncheck the email portions of the preferences. Remember to safe so the changes are recognized by the software.

Ok so unchecking those boxes caused the bell icon to stop working, but I'm still getting the emails. That's the opposite of what I want.

Under contact details, messaging prefferances, there is a box that says:

Receive email when a new conversation message is received

Email notifications for new conversations, replies to existing conversations, and being added to an existing conversation

I've had that box unchecked for quite some time and I feel like that's what I'm looking for, but it's not working

I am replying solely to trigger what should give you an alert.

Are you getting emails from each thread or just general email? I only get 1 email a day.

If you are getting emails from each thread you will have to go to each thread and unsubscribe or unfollow them. Then turn off the auto subscribe function

A "Conversation" is the little envelope you can click on to communicate specifically with one or a group of people that you select, like our old "Private Message" function on the old platform. Conversations, for me, are the only thing that ever trigger an email, as I want to know if someone is trying to get in touch with me.

For me, everything else is turned off, I see notifications under the bell in the upper right corner when someone has mentioned me in a post or quoted me, but that doesn't trigger emails, nor does any response to any thread, whether it is my thread or not.

I'm at a loss here. No idea why this site insists on sending me all these unwanted emails. So far the only thing that works is unchecking all the boxes and then I dont get any notifications on the site at all

The newsletter is not effected by any of the email controls on the site. The only way to get rid of it is to click on the "Click here to unsubscribe" Once that is done, you will not get more of the Daily emails, and it cannot be turned back on.

    upload_2019-2-27_10-47-41.png

To control the alerts you get via email go to the user control panel accessed by clicking on the little man icon on the top right of the forum page.

Then open Alert Preferences to decide how to get alerts and which ones to email to you.
