For some unknown reason I did not put the powder oak in the primary[emoji42]
Today I recked to a carboy and my SG is 1.000.
I adder the oak (2 packs ) and stirred vigorously.
How long do y'all think It will take at this point for the oak to give up the goods?
I know oak in the primary doesn't give much oak flavor, more mouth feel.
Do y'all think this will give oak flavor to the end product?
Will this cause any clearing problem?
Thank you very much for your help!

Where ever you go... there you are. :db

FWIW, here are my two bits (and as someone who hasn't been making wine nearly as long as most):

If your SG is at 1.000 and you've racked to a secondary vessel (carboy), it will be a week to 10 days till you get to the point of racking and clearing. That seems to be plenty of time to get some of that oaky goodness out of the powder. And, clearing should not be effected one iota. At the end of the 7-10 days, you'll rack the wine off the lees and add sulfites and clearing agents (if you're so inclined). The oak will be left behind, having sunk to the bottom.

Age and check after about 3 months to see if more tannin is necessary. Maybe, but probably not. It is a Pinot, after all.

The oak powder has already fallen to the bottom, stirring is a great idea!
