First time making wine from my own grapes. I put the must in the primary fermenter with yeast but neglected to stir daily. It has been one week. Unfortunately it does look like little white specs of mold are on the cap. Also, when I opened the fermenter it didn't seem to off-gass, so I'm wondering if the yeast is not working.

Is it all lost? Thanks for your assistance.

I would punch down the must and take a sg reading. if you have the starting sg you can see if fermentation is progressing. I would punch down at least twice a day, except for the day you will rack into secondary. the must will rise each day , on the last day you want the must to be up and then siphon the liquid from underneath the cap.

Have the skins formed a rather firm raft on top of your wine (or are the skins pretty much mixed in with the wine)?

If you have no firm raft on top, then I would say that you need to add more yeast.
