For those of you who use a Rubbermaid Brute can for a primary, do you just use the snap-on lid, or some other more effective sealing closure?

i use it with the snap on lid, with a dictionary on top. good enough seal to keep fruit flies out but opwn enough to allow adequate air exchange. daily stirrings/punchdowns help too. as soon as fermentation slows tho, i rack to secondary with airlock.

Well it is not exactly a rubbermaid can but a
large 30 liter plastic primary.

Just covering with a cheesecloth or towel fastened with
a rubberband will do just fine.
Easy to remove for stirring or pushing down the cap
and re-attached in a few seconds.
