Cover primary at 1.00?

For those who ferment to dryness in primary, do any of you put a lid on your tank around 1.00 sg? Thought process being, maybe there’s not enough co2 coming off to protect? Thx.

I ferment in Brute trash cans, primarily. I always keep the lid on until I press (except during punchdowns, of course).

I do the same as Jim. Brute trash cans, lid on, but not tightly, fan blowing over to keep fruit flies away.

Dittos about the Brute trash cans. If you're at 1.00 then you might consider pressing. If you cap is turning greyish or ashy, then it's time. (IMO).
