Hello,

Just wondering what more experienced winemakers' feelings are on using a conical fermenter in order to avoid multiple rackings and vessels?

Thank you!

Welcome aboard!!

I don't have any experience with these - but i know there are a few members that use these or vessels similar to what you are referring to.

Hang tight - they will respond when they get a chance to hop on.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

Sorry I can't help you out with this either, I just have the standard winemaking stuff.

They will not avoid multiple rackings, they are mainly used fpor beer making so as the brewer can extract the yeast cake in order to use it again for another batch of beer much easier. Lees fall over time and nothing but filtering or fining agents can preent that or speed it up and even then finer lees will fall out sometimes afterwards.
