could a person bulk age wine in lets say a food grade poly,

I wouldnt do that, Id use only glass or stainless steel or the better bottle for that, oops, forgot about the old oak barrel also!
 
I'd say no. The carboy design keeps the surface area which is succeptible to oxidizing to a minimum. The food grade container I'm picturing you're speaking of is like a primary. Lots of surface area that the oxygen could mess with.

was looking at oak barrels its a lot of doller so are the stainless steels

No. the one i was looking at had sust one small hole on top
held 60 gals.

guess i will go back to store and buy some more carboys
i was buying them for 19.90 for 5gals
but they raised the price to 26.95 they said it was because of shiping
but they had them for years. so i quit buying. Guess i will eat my hat.

Did you say 60 gallons? How much wine are you looking to bulk age here?

Wade i have a bunch goining to order 15 cases of bottles to start with.
for the grape and the rest i will bulk age for some 16 month
