i think most wines would benefit from a darker bottle. UV rays can be harmful. maybe coat the clear bottles with some SPF 30?

I just use whatever I happen to have available. It's not like I store my wine on a window sill. It would be pretty hard for the sun to hurt my wine in a wine fridge/cellar.

i've got friends and family collecting bottles. if i were to buy some i would get colored glass.

but freebies i'm not really worried about.

plus unless your wine is a really cool color i think colored glass has better aesthetics.

The darker the better if you have natural or florescent light on them.

thanks... i figured it would be similar to beer. dark bottles protect against excess uv exposure...

You might try a red wine in a blue bottle, that may cause some real bottle shock to those who see it :D
