My cousin Matt invited a bunch of us down to make beer for Crush. What a set up he has! we started by grinding the grains, then steeped them, then boiled them. We then hopped it, cooled it, put it in the primaries, then put the primaries into his incubator.

Just look at this set up! Amazing! Can you guess that he is an engineer?????

Here are some pics..

Pic 1 & 2 - we grinded grain in this ingenious power drill grinder. Pretty neat and really made short work of it.

Pic 3 - His set up complete with boiling kettles, magno pumps, and a heat exchanger.

Pic 4 - Everything in Pic 3 is controlled (via thermo-couples) from this control panel.

Pic 5 - His incubator. This handles several batches at once.

Pic 6 - His kegorator. He puts his beer into corney kegs and run two different beers at a time. This holds 6 corney kegs at a time.

To be honest, he explained everything to me, but it was all a bit technical....

You really know how to "crush" JohnT. No one will be able to say you didn't know how to live..

Wow, he's pretty serious. That is a mean setup.

When do you expect your crush will be?

Brewers' breweries tend to be out of the 21st Century whereas the gear used by wine makers tends to be very low tech, almost medieval... They marvel at the mechanics, we marvel at the harvest:fsh

That just about sums it up! I was amazed at the set up. Work wise he can easily handle 10 gallons of beer without any help.
